A Season of Quiet Colours
By The MAISON Edit
Colour has always been the most direct language of fashion. But there is a school of thought — growing, we believe, into something like a movement — that finds the most interesting expression in restraint.
The quietest colours are not colourless. Ivory is not white. Ecru is not beige. Chalk is not grey. Each occupies a specific, considered position on the spectrum, and the difference matters enormously to the person standing in it.
The palette of this season
We have been drawn, again and again, to the mineral world. The colour of clay before it is fired. The particular beige of unbleached linen. The warmth of aged oak. These are colours that exist in the natural world without apology, and they translate to clothing with the same ease.
On wearing them together
The joy of a quiet palette is in the layering. Ivory over ecru over chalk reads as a study in near-whiteness that is far more interesting than any of its components alone. The tonal approach to dressing is one of the pleasures of a restrained wardrobe.
